Carbide.UI S60 Theme Edition is a tool used to customize user interfaces for Symbian devices.
Symbian OS is an operating system for devices chiefly used on Nokia’s mobile phones from about 2000 to 2010. In 2008, all Symbian platforms were consolidated into a single open-source platform called S60. This made possible tools like Carbide.UI S60 Theme Edition, which is Windows tool that you can use to dictate every aspect of the user interface for S60 devices.
You can edit an existing user interface or create a UI from scratch. The UI you create can be just for you, or the program can compile it into a distributable package. Give it to friends, or put it on the Internet so that all can enjoy it. The program itself is an integrated development environment or IDE that lets you edit these components through visualizers, control panels or more.
The UI for Carbide.UI S60 Theme Edition is quite sophisticated and similar to programs like Visual Studio but for S60 UIs rather than a particular programming language. Aspects you can edit include backgrounds, colors, icons, highlights, pop-up windows, indicators and more. You can even control the applications and multimedia that execute based on particular actions.
Symbian OS has been discontinued. There are no new devices that use the S60, and any device that did or an earlier OS version is no longer supported. In fact, there probably aren’t many Symbian devices still in use, and Carbide UI is no longer developed. That said, if you have an S60 device and want to create or edit a theme for it, then this program still gets the job done well.
